Follow Up

Radio Mensajero is partnering with some individuals from the colonies Sommerfeld and Bergthal to bring food to the blind, crippled, handicapped and sick.

The radio serves as a platform to help connect the needs of these people with those who could help and captures their story for broadcast.

Each person is made in the image of God. Each has intrinsic value. Each person has a sparkle of life and beauty in them. We thank God for the opportunity to love each one in Christ. As you go through this report please pray along side us for these precious people.

The Radio Mensajero team had an opportunity to meet and encourage this family who had several troubles. This was actually not a planned visit, but as the team was trying to connect with their contact, they pulled over to the side of the road, in front of a random house. After a few moments of trying to call the contact person via cell phone, a man from the house approached the car, and told the team that he had had a dream the previous night, that the Radio Mensajero van would show up at his house, and that he was to guide the radio team to a lady's place that lived about 2 km away, who urgently needed prayer. When the team got to this lady's house, it became very apparent why this family needed prayer: 5 months earlier, the lady was in a motorcycle accident, in which her husband had died. Many motorcycles here have no working tail light, and that seems to have been the cause for this accident as well. The couple had two kids, and this 31-year-old woman was bedridden for many months, due to a spinal injury. This was extra difficult since she also had a handicapped brother.

The team shared words of encouragement and prayed for the lady and her family. After the prayer, this lady's mother broke down into tears, and explained that while they were praying, she was convicted in her spirit that all these troubles that the family is having is due to her meddling with witchcraft like Tarot cards. She had come to believe that there was a curse on her household, due to her occult rituals and "santeria". The team was amazed to see the work of the Holy Spirit in this lady's heart. We also continue to pray for God to help and heal this family.

As Christians we know that our God forbids us from engaging in such practices. These practices are demonic and harmful to us.

^"10Let no one be found among you who sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, ¹¹or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead."

Visited 3 locations. Most of the visitors spoke the native guarani language. Daniel recollects below what was translated to him.

1. Silvina and Dionisio

Revisit with lady and her family from last year. The lady explained that her husband used to listen to Christian programs from cassette tapes, until he was introduced to the radio. When he first started listening to Radio Mensajero, he loved it, and never went back. They are still faithful listeners, as an entire family.

2. Bernardino

We visited a man named Bernardino for the first time. He has been listening since 1999. He told us a story of how he had a debilitating bone disease on and off for 14 years, where all his bones were in constant pain. He could barely walk and was stuck at home most of the time. One day in the year 2000 he heard that the radio car was on the way to visit listeners in his area for the first time. He didn’t think he’d have a chance to visit with them, but he was greatly surprised the radio car ended up right in front of his house. He was so excited to see them. He recollected the moment he saw the car, his whole body shook and his body was healed. He joyfully told us since that moment his bone pain never came back.

3. Bernardino’s Friend

We also visited with Bernardino’s friend and had lunch together. We had chicken soup with cornmeal and cheese dumplings, and BBQ or asado meat. He also showed us his tomato farm.

After lunch the team visited another family who shared how listening to the radio helped them spot out false teachers who had moved in and set up a church in their town. They noticed how this new church leaned towards external appearances; like having your facial hair a certain way; wearing certain clothing a particular way; and even having a Christian lingo of saying alleluia often. They remembered that they heard from the radio that following rules or legalism mostly concerned with external appearances is false. They knew that if you want to observe parts of the law, you must observe all of it. They also knew that salvation is through faith in Christ and not through works. They know that God does not look a the outward appearance but at the heart.

The team was encouraged to hear that even people who struggle with literacy understood proper theology because they listened to our radio, and were able to stand against false teachers.

Daniel and Manuel had a chance to meet some interesting people. One family had a brick making factory, and the the other had an electronics repair shop. It's always wonderful to get to know and visit radio listeners.
